(AJHL) STORM SET FOR SHOWCASE......

The Grande Prairie Storm head out on the road this evening, as they get set for this weekend’s AJHL Showcase in Spruce Grove.

The three-day event is a joint initiative between the city of Spruce Grove, the Spruce Grove Saints and the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

It will include each of the League’s 16 teams playing two regular season games apiece at the TransAlta Tri Leisure Centre. The AJHL Showcase is a unique opportunity for the scouting community to evaluate over 400 AJHL players in one location, as they compete against one another.

Grande Prairie faces the Canmore Eagles Friday, at 3:30 pm. Saturday, the Storm take on the Brooks Bandits at 3:30 pm.

The Storm are looking to build on a big 5-3 victory over the Camrose Kodiaks Tuesday.

Grande Prairie forward Dennis Rix heads into the AJHL Showcase as the league’s leading scorer, with 10 goals and 10 assists for 20 points in nine games.

Rix is three points up on the second-highest scorer – teammate Zahn Raubenheimer (3-14-17).

Storm fans that can’t make this weekend’s showcase can still catch all the action by tuning into 104.7 FREE FM.
