The Liftlock Stars had their home opener tonight and lost to the Bowmanville Eagles by a score of 3-2. It was fast paced action and a very exciting contest to watch. The team is young and fast and will soon gel together.
The Eagles scored int he first period on a power play goal by Scott Sandercock at 11:36.
The Eagles outshot the Stars by 11-7 in the period as that was all the scoring that there was.
In the second period, Corey O'Brien drilled a pass from Mike Hennessey past the Eagle goaltender to tie the game at the 1:19 mark. At the 14:29 mark, Jeff Swift put the Stars into the lead with assists going to Ryan Donohoe and Keenan Murray. The Stars held the edge in play in the period and outshot the Eagles by 10-7.
In the third period, the Eagles tied it up at the 7:11 mark on a goal by Brett Gilmour.
The play went back and forth but at the 16:03 mark, Connor Alison scored what proved to be the winning goal. The Eagles outshot the Stars by 9-8.
Next action for the Stars is Thursday when they travel to Stouffville for a game at 7:30 pm.
