(USHL) Cedar Rapids - Hohmann Commits To Boston University......

Cedar Rapids, Iowa - Cason Hohmann, the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders’ first round choice in May’s
United States Hockey League Futures Draft has given a verbal commitment to the Boston University
Terrier’s for the 2011 hockey season.

When Cason Hohmann was out there as a draft pick, the RoughRiders quickly nabbed him. The highly skilled forward was the Riders’ first pick, the second player taken overall in the United States Hockey League Futures Draft.

Hohmann, 16, last season led the Tier I Elite Hockey League in points (56) and assists (32) and ranked second in the league in goals (24) while playing 31 games for the Detroit-area Compuware Under-16 midget team. The 5’8”, 165 lb. Dallas, Texas native last month led the USA Hockey 16-and-Under National Tournament in both points (14) and assists (13) while helping Compuware to six straight wins and the national title.

Hohmann is one of twenty players who participated at USA Hockey's Boys' Select 16 Player Development Camp and has been selected for the 2009 U.S. Under-17 Select Team that is currently competing at the 2009 Under-17 Five Nations Tournament from Aug. 18-22, in Fussen, Germany.
RoughRiders Coach and General Manager Mark Carlson states, “The RoughRiders are very happy for Cason and his family, as well as for Boston University, and we are looking forward to Cason beginning the season with us in the fall.”

The Boston University Terriers men’s ice hockey program is one of the most storied teams in NCAA Division I hockey. The Terriers are the defending national champions, ending last season with a 35-6-4 record. They finished the season ranked #1 in both the USCHO.com/CBS College Sports Poll and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll, earning the #1 overall seed in the 2009 NCAA championship.

BU won a school record 7 championships last season: the Ice Breaker Invitational, the Denver Cup, the prestigious Beanpot tournament, the Hockey East regular season title, the Hockey East tournament, the NCAA Northeast Regional, and finally, the National Championship.

Hohmann will join the RoughRiders this fall in their eleventh season which opens in Cedar Rapids this October. 2009-10 season tickets are currently available through the RoughRiders’ business office (319-247-0340) or online at www.ridertownusa.com.
