The Woodstock Slammers have partnered with the Children's Wish Foundation this season to bring awareness to the needs in the local communities. To kick off this strengthened relationship, the Slammers lone home exhibition contest will be a fundraiser for local wishes.
Woodstock will host the Summerside Western Capitals, the defending Maritime Junior A Hockey champions, on Friday, Sept. 4, at 7:30 p.m. Rory, the Children's Wish Foundation mascot, will be in attendance.
"We're excited to be involved with this charity and it is our hope to be a big contributor to the Children's Wish Foundation this season and this is a great way to kickstart oor involvement" commented Head Coach Jason Tatarnic.
Slammer players will be visiting local restaurants such as McDonalds, Quiznos, Dairy Queen, Pizza Delight and the Riverside Pub during lunch hour to meet people from the community and invite them to join them Friday night to raise money for this great cause. In addition Veteran players such as team captain Brogan Bailey, Chad Young, Mitch Flynn, Tyler Gale, Lucas McKinley, Michael Best, Nick Huard, Brandon Kosolofsky, and Nick Tremere will be available for autographs during the game.
Donation boxes will be set up at the main gate of the Carleton Civic Centre. There will also be an information desk with pledge sheets and promotion for the Children's Wish Foundation Walkathon on Saturday, October 17th.
