(MJHL) Manitoba Well Represented at POE Camps......

The MJHL will be well represented at Hockey Manitoba's Program of Excellent fall evaluation camp. The Under-16 and Under-17 lineups were recently announced and can be viewed by going to Hockey Manitoba.

“It's a real accomplishment to be recognized within the Program of Excellence,“ said MJHL Commissioner Kim Davis. “Both POE lineups contain many players who are in the MJHL, or will soon be in our league.

“This reflects the skill level of the players in our league. We'll continue to encourage our players to take their game to the next level.“

The POE is a High Performance Program that offers elite athletes the opportunity to represent their province and beyond. Hockey Canada, Hockey Manitoba (Branch) and the Hockey Manitoba Regions collaborate to identify players for the Provincial, Regional and National Programs (Team Manitoba, Team West and Team Canada).

Team West is annually comprised of 11 players from Manitoba and 11 players from Saskatchewan. Team West competes at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge which is a top-level international competition that serves as a primary development tool for Hockey Canada's Program of Excellence.

The U-16 POE is a new High Performance Program that will see Team Manitoba compete at the Canada West Branch Championships. This event was established by the four western Hockey Canada Branches (AB, BC, MB, SK) and in part with the WHL.

This age group will now also be apart of the Canada Winter Games which take place every 4th season, next games are in Halifax 2011 (2010/11 season).
