Who Might Be New:

1991 G Russell Abbott (ND Argos SMAAAHL 2-15-1, 4.72, .866)…He played well behind a struggling club. “He had a breakout season and is committed to being a starter at this level,” says new head coach Darren Evjen.

1991 G Matt Smidt (ND Argos SMAAAHL 8-16-2, 4.09, .882)…smaller goalie with great athletic ability. He is a true competitor.
1992 D Carson Grolla (ND Hounds SMAAAHL 44-6-13-19)…Grolla was a member of the Telus Cup champs. He’s strong and moves the puck well.

1991 D James Howden (Regina SMAAAHL 40-7-11-18)…Howden is defensively sound, and Evjen says he’s excited about seeing him develop into the type of defenseman who can jump into the play.

1991 D Dylan Babe (Lethbridge AMAAAHL 32-0-2-2)…A first pass type blueliner, who is a stay at home type and looks after his own end.

1992 D Troy Murray (Regina SMAAAHL 42-2-9-11)…He could still play midget, but his skating is junior ready. Evjen says he also has an edge to him.

1991 D/F Tristan Houde (Swift Current Midget AA 23-5-5-10)…Skill and versatile, Houde will try to make the difficult jump from Midget AA to the SJHL.

1991 F Todd Christian (USA U17 40-19-18-37)…Good size, nice shot, good set of wheels. He played for Team USA U-17 and New England.

1992 F Trevor Cameron (ND Hounds SMAAAHL 42-13-15-28)…Two way player, who may put up some numbers as a 17-year-old. He averaged a point per game in the playoffs.

1990 F Trevor Milner (Grandview PIJHL 45-20-27-47)…A good skater, who looks after the finer details of the game. He will try to translate some of his PIJHL scoring stats to the SJHL.
1991 F Riley Pikor (Contacts SMAAAHL 41-5-6-11)…His work ethic is good and he has a sandpaper style to him.
1991 F Brennan Dishko (Contacts SMAAAHL 28-4-2-6)…A power forward with good leadership qualities.

1990 F Steven Klips (Mission PIJHL 33-15-5-20)…Two way power forward with a nose for the net. A good skater.

1991 F Justin Kerr (Martensville AA) … Skating, passing, and puck control have raised eyebrows of evaluators during training camp. He also played high school football.

Notes: It’s a year of clean up for Evjen, as he puts his own stamp on the franchise. It has resulted in a tremendous amount of turnover. This will be a team to watch as Evjen was a highly successful coach in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League and he is well versed with Notre Dame’s program.
